Custom Fields

Custom Fields allows a user to create custom defined fields to track additional employee information in People in the Custom Fields view.

Add a New Custom Field Category

  1. Under VIEWS, select Custom Fields. The Custom Fields screen displays.  

  2. Click add_category.jpg. The Add Category screen displays.

  3. Type the title of the new category.

  4. Click SAVE. The new category displays in the Custom Fields screen in Company.

Add a New Custom Field

  1. Under VIEWS, select Custom Fields. The Custom Fields screen displays.  

  2. Click custom_plus.jpg  next to the category the custom field is being added to. The Create Field screen displays.

  3. Type the name of the new custom field in the Name* field. This is a required field.

  • Only one type of custom field can be set up at a time.

  • The Field is Required and Display on Check Stub checkboxes are available for all Custom Field types.

Text

The Set Character Limit. Use this option to determine the character lengths that can be entered on a worker.

Number

The Decimal Places field.

Dropdown

The Edit Values field. Use this option to create a customized list of values.

  1. Complete all applicable fields.

  2. Click SAVE & NEW to save changes, then add another custom field. Click SAVE & CLOSE to save changes, then return to the Custom Field screen.

Delete a Custom Field Category

  1. Under VIEWS, select Custom Fields. The Custom Fields screen displays.  

  2. Click custom_delete.jpg next to the category to delete.

    Deleting a category also deletes all custom fields within the category. The custom fields can be moved to a new category if you do not want to remove all the custom fields associated with the category.

  3. When the prompt displays, click OK.

Delete a Custom Field  

  1. Under VIEWS, select Custom Fields. The Custom Fields screen displays.  

  2. Click custom_delete.jpg next to the custom field to delete. The custom field is also removed if values exist for an employee.

  3. When the prompt displays, click OK.

  4. Click SAVE & NEW to save changes, then add another Custom Field. Click SAVE & CLOSE to save changes, then return to the Custom Fields screen.  

Edit a Custom Field Category

  1. Under VIEWS, select Custom Fields. The Custom Fields screen displays.  

  2. Click custom_edit.jpg next to the category to edit. The Edit Category screen displays.

  3. Edit the Name:* field.

  4. Click SAVE & NEW to save changes, then add another custom field.  Click SAVE & CLOSE to save changes, then return to the Custom Fields screen.

Edit a Custom Field

  1. Under VIEWS, select Custom Fields. The Custom Fields screen displays.  

  2. Click custom_edit.jpg next to the custom field to edit. The Custom Fields screen displays.

  3. Update the applicable fields.  Additional fields may display depending on what is selected.

  4. Click SAVE & NEW to save changes, then add another custom field. Click SAVE & CLOSE to save your changes, then return to the Custom Field screen.  

Reorder the Display View

You can choose how the Categories and Custom Fields display in the grid. Click and drag the row to a different location in the table. A line displays to indicate the position where the row moves after the mouse is released.

A category row cannot be moved into another category.
