Effective Dating

The Effective Dateeffectivity.jpgoption allows the client to make modifications to pieces of data by future dating or back dating information within the application.

Available options for effective dating may be different depending on which screen you are on.

Within the Personal view, when the Personal icon is clicked, a pop-up displays with the same data fields that are on the Personal information grid but with specific dates. Within the pop-up, the Effective Date can be changed.

For fields being updated, the cells are highlighted in the row, and the changes are copied from the Effective Date down through all other entries for the worker.

Effective dating can store different values for the same field and attach a start date for each one. The end date for the current value is automatically assigned by the application when the start date of a new value is reached. The effective date is effective with the check date (not the pay period date).

  • A pay period is 5/19/13 - 5/25/13.

  • The check date for the pay period is 6/1/13.

  • The effective date for a pay increase is also 6/1/13.

  • The effective date and the check date are the same so the pay increase is used for the 5/19/13 - 5/25/13 pay period.

You can research past, current, and future changes by clicking the Effective Date iconeffectivity.jpgand using the Filter.
