A worksite code is a unique identifier for each business location covered under the same state unemployment number. Employers with multiple business locations are required to file a Multiple Worksite Report in these states and territories:
California Colorado* Florida Georgia Louisiana Indiana** Iowa Kansas Maine Maryland |
Minnesota* Montana Nevada New Hampshire New Jersey New York North Carolina North Dakota Ohio |
Oregon Pennsylvania Puerto Rico South Dakota Tennessee** Vermont Virginia Virgin Islands West Virginia |
*Worksite coding is required to print the wage detail return by worksite.
**State notifies employer in writing if a worksite report is required.
To provide information for the report, worksite coding is required for each employee. Employers can define their own worksite codes (for example, 10, 11, 12). There are two ways to set up coding for worksite reporting:
Enter a worksite code for the company’s main business location as a default for new employees. Select Company Withholding & Taxes.
Click the Moreicon in the top right corner of the screen.
Select New Employee Defaults Summary View.
In the Enter the default worksite code for this location field, enter a worksite code for the company’s main business location.
When a new employee works in a different location, change the worksite code on the employee by selecting Employee | Maintenance | Withholding | State | Unemployment. In the Worksite Code field, type the worksite code.
Set up the company’s business locations and enter a worksite code for each location.
From the Company menu, select Locations, then set up each business location.
Select Taxes and Disability. Click New Employee Defaults, then enter a worksite code for each business location.

If an employee transfers to a different business location, change the worksite code to the new location. |
